Any news and updates of general interest to CTWG members:

Drummond Reed reminded everyone that Internet Identity Workshop is less than six weeks away. He said he planned to call a ToIP Glossary session there (hopefully in conjunction with Brian Richter).

ACTION: Brian Richter and Henk van Cann and Drummond Reed to discuss the normative section in the Terminology Governance Guide and spec it up.

    • This is still pending while we work through the specifics of consistency checks on different ways of spelling terms.
15 minTerminology Governance Guide

Every meeting an new aspect to discuss and decide upon. How to contribute will be explained.

https://trustoverip.github.io/ctwg-terminology-governance-guide/

This meetings goal: Discussion Objectives and Scope of the Guide, section 7. Introduction and section 9. Scope.
Async contributions for section 8 and 10 would be appreciated.

We discussed the need of certain terms communities, such as the HXWG, that will need to develop their own terminology.

Rieks Joosten mentioned that there are three CTWG repos:

  1. Terminology tooling.
  2. Terminology design.
  3. ToIP Glossary.

Rieks pointed out that "term conflation" — where the same term is being used by different groups to identify different concepts. In that case, it helps to define a scope for the term and show how it maps to a concept within a scope.

Conflated terms can be listed in a dictionary which can assert the associated scope.

10 minUpdates on TEv2 and KERISSE engine / kerific

Report on what progress (if any) took place over the past 2 weeks on either TEv2 or KERISSE tooling and code bases.

20 minReport on Spec-Up Coding Project

Brian will report on his progress. Last Friday he submitted this pull request:

https://github.com/trustoverip/ctwg-main-glossary/pull/5

Darrell reviewed and merged it because it made all the necessary updates this Markdown version of the ToIP Glossary:

https://github.com/trustoverip/ctwg-main-glossary/blob/main/spec/terms_and_definitions.md

Once we have verified the structure of that file, we need to see how it renders in Spec-Up and what control we have via the associated stylesheet.

Brian showed the rendered ToIP Glossary in Spec-Up (see screenshot #1 below). He then showed the two new features:

  1. Dangling refs/defs.
  2. External references (xrefs).

ACTION: Henk van Cann to have a 1-on-1 meeting with Brian Richter about abbreviations.
