  •  ACTION: Rieks Joosten and Daniel Hardman to arrange a meeting to discuss how this hyperlinking should work with ToIP Term Tool V1 and our current terms wikis.
  •  ACTION: Rieks Joosten to think more about the curation process for a terms wiki and whether he wants to propose a specific process for the CTWG terms wiki.
15 minReview Riek's proposed mental model for the CTWG and ToIP terms wikis

See diagram #1 below.

  • Rieks said this is just a first draft that he has put together.
  • The green area is where we curate the CTWG terms wiki; the gray area is for curation of the ToIP terms wiki.
  • A terms wiki has a 1:1 relationship with a scope.
  • A concept is an intangible entity in the mind of a person and often represented by a unique number.
  • A definition is a human-readable description of a concept.
  • A concept and a definition have a 1:1 relationship.
  • A concept and a definition must be in the same scope, but they can be part of multiple scopes.
  • A term from another scope can refer to a definition and concept in another scope.
  • A terms community and a scope are identified with a tag.
  • A scope may include another scope.
  • A terms community can include another terms community.
  • Each scope has one terminology (set of terms).
  • Each terminology has one glossary, which is a publication of a glossary.
  • A terms community consists of all the parties who share a set of objectives.
  • Daniel Hardman  suggestions:
    • A terms community should have more than one tag.
    • But a tag can identify a terminology as well.
    • A tag is a flexible way to group terms that may not be the same as a terms community.
    • An example is a sci-fi terminology that includes tags for hard science and soft science and Star Wars.
  • ACTION: Rieks will make updates to his mental model diagram.
25 minReview Riek's proposal for curation of ToIP terms wikisRieks Joosten

See Rieks' draft proposal.

  • It states the prime objective of a terminology for a terms community.
  • It differentiates between a terminology of a ecosystem vs. a terminology for a terms community.
  • It includes proposed definitions of the objectives for the ToIP ecosystem and the ToIP terms community.
  • It also proposes an ingestion and a curation process for the ToIP Core terms wiki.
  • The curation process is where we figure out what terms do and do not go into the corpus.
  • Scott Perry brought up the issue of whether usage of a terms wiki and the CTWG corpus should be mandatory.

Hyperlinking structure

  • Rieks suggests links like this: [community](community)
  • But he would also like to see this: [own](#essiflab:owner)
  • Then it would be easier to change these links.
  • This is the next step that would make authoriing much easier because it would make it simple for authors.
