Judith Fleenor wanted to make sure that everyone was aware that the ToIP Foundation will be moving under the LF Decentralized Trust umbrella. This will involved updates to some of our tooling, including moving to Discord. All of this will be coming down the pike over the next two months.

Kyle Robinson said that BC Gov has a new Digital Trust Toolkit | Digital Trust Toolkit (bcgov.github.io)

Drummond Reed is that the Governance Stack Working Group is going to be focused this fall on developing a V2 of the ToIP Governance Architecture Specification and ToIP Governance Metamodel Specification and Companion Guide. The very first step is to add support for the ToIP Glossary.

Drummond Reed said __________.

Henk van Cann said that this Friday Aug 30 at 14:00 CEST there will be a presentation of the Spec-Up-T tools for the DIDAS group. Henk will share the Teams link when he has it.

ToIP Glossary V1All

Kyle asked what we should do with the previous ToIP Glossary.

We discussed that some parties have been referencing the previous version of the ToIP Glossary here: <_________>: https://trustoverip.github.io/toip/glossary.

Henk van Cann suggested that we put a large banner at the top of the previous ToIP Glossary.

Kor Dwarshuis has already create a PR to do this.

We then discussed the question of whether any "retrofitting" of the old ToIP Glossary is needed.

Drummond Reed said that, with the new ToIP Glossary, authors can make a time-delimited external reference (x-ref) to any term—or to the ToIP Glossary as a whole. That will effectively "freeze" the glossary for the author.

Kyle Robinson asked if there was a way to reference a specific "version" of the ToIP Glossary as of a specific point in time (and not just to specific definitions within the ToIP Glossary at that point in time). He shared this link as an example: Tenure and Resource Stewardship Branch Governance Framework | Digital Trust Toolkit (bcgov.github.io)

Neil Thomson gave the example of being able to look at the whole set of definitions that are present in the ToIP Glossary at a point in time.

Henk van Cann was agreeing in this functionality, as it would be a "game changer" because it would enable a specification or other document to fully externally reference those definitions in the ToIP Glossary as of that specific datetime.

ACTION: Henk van Cann and Kor Dwarshuis to propose a design for this functionality to be able to reference a term—or an entire version of the ToIP Glossary—by a date, such that all glossary items have at most that date in their GitHub datetime stamp, i.e., it is an historical lookup. They will also look at the option of creating periodic versions as "snapshots" of the ToIP Glossary (as HTML and/or PDF) with their own URLs.

Kor Dwarshuis pointed out that the GitHub API can throttle requests if there are too many filtering requests.

Neil Thomson brought up the option of taking snapshots of the ToIP Glossary for "official major releases" periodically, such as quarterly. Kor agreed that such snapshots could be "frozen snapshots".

Judith Fleenor "I always thought that was in the design.  But that was before we went to spec up.  The author of a document, when they make a ref to a def need to know that def will not change later." Henk van Cann clarified that this will be true for specific xrefs.

  •  Do we have a standard procedure for:
  1. Proposing edits to existing terms in the ToIP Glossary?
    1. This can be done by creating a PR. If the author has admin rights to the repo, it will make the edit directly. Otherwise it will take the author to a PR that can be curated by a maintainer.
    2. Kor Dwarshuis showed an example.
  2. Proposing new terms to be included in the ToIP Glossary?

  3. Never delete a term definition, just revoke the definition and forward to new terms that cover the concept. How?
  •  Discuss what steps remain to publish an official ToIP Glossary V1 specification by the end of August
